Class Notes for MTH 121

You may download and print the notes for free. These notes will provide structure to the classroom only and should not be used without attending each and every lecture. These notes include all materials taught, and all required written assignments.

COVID-19 PLAN
  • You need to follow my notes, page-by-page, and move forward—you should spend roughly 14 hours per week on this. Read, do all examples and all homework contained in the notes. If you don’t understand something you need to post your question (include page number) to Skype and I will post an embedded video to clarify. You should be up to page 369 by 03/31/2020. You should be up to page 417 by 04/16/2020You should be up to page 484 by 04/30/2020. You should be up to page 524 by 05/06/2020. You should be done with the course guide by 05/12/2020.
  • As long a ECC is affected by COVID-19, Cengage has agreed to give free access to Cengage Unlimited. Please register immediately and try to become familiar with using this system. Testing will take place using this system. Again, IT'S FREE! My class key is: essex 4345 1821If you need to, I strongly suggest you complete the "Getting Started in WebAssign” assignment. You may also decide to do other WebAssign assignments, but it is not required. I will schedule exams using WebAssign, these exams will be based on the material covered in my notes and YOU ARE REQUIRED TO DO THIS AS SCHEDULED. I will update you via Skype. First Online Quiz is Scheduled for Friday, March 27th. It will be available at 8:30 am and is due at 8:30 pm. It's timed and you'll have two hours to complete. It based on the rules of differentiation that we already covered in class. Second Online Quiz is Scheduled for April 2nd. It is due on the 4th. It's timed and you'll have two hours to complete. It based on the min/max, critical numbers, and the other theorems that were covered in section 23 of my course notes. Third Online Quiz is Scheduled for April 11th. It is due on the 16th. It's timed and you'll have two hours to complete. It based on the curve sketching that were covered up page 398 of my course notes. Forth Online Quiz is Scheduled for April 21th. It is due on the 25th. It's timed and you'll have two hours to complete. It based on optimization problems and Newton's method. Fifth Online Quiz is Scheduled for May 7th. It is due on the 9th. It's timed and you'll have two hours to complete. It based on integration, including u-substitition and applications. FINAL EXAM is scheduled for 05/13 at 2:30 pm and will end on May 15 at 2:30 pm. It is a cumulative exam and will last 150 minutes.
  • You need to get a Skype account and request contact with my Skype account (ron.bannon@gmail.com) so that I can add you to the group. Try to use Skype for all communication.
  • Join Zoom TThF 1:00; Meeting ID: 262 425 681; Password: 067990; you should join these sessions to get your questions/concerns regarding course notes/videos/WebAssign addressed. White board will be used! The school is asking me to record these sessions, I believe to show evidence to the Federal/State government that students are participating. Most Zoom session are posted to Moodlerooms, and you have access via ECC WebServices.
